This job is a remote role where you will be working from home most days.  There will be days when you need to visit one of the State of Maryland offices when the need arises.  

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Network Engineer to support and maintain IT infrastructure across multiple statewide locations. This role involves configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network systems while ensuring secure, reliable connectivity and compliance with organizational requirements. The engineer will collaborate with staff, contractors, and state agencies to deliver effective IT solutions and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, storage devices, printers, scanners, network hardware, cabling, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.

  • Deploy and integrate new state-procured hardware/software, create/restore workstation images, and troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and software issues.

  • Monitor and analyze network performance, conduct diagnostics, manage backups, and implement upgrades or corrective actions to optimize efficiency, security, and reliability.

  • Design and manage disaster recovery site replication, backup processes, and business continuity solutions.

  • Support and enhance the website, applications, and email systems while ensuring compliance with state requirements.

  • Provide secure remote access solutions for troubleshooting, file transfers, and collaboration with state agencies; deliver on-site and remote technical support statewide.

  • Offer expert technical guidance on IT direction, infrastructure improvements, procurement recommendations, and system integration with other contractors or agencies.

  • Assist with day-to-day operational tasks such as file restores, print configurations, and volume management.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in network engineering and IT infrastructure support.

  • Hands-on experience with workstation/server imaging, backups, and disaster recovery.

  • Proficient in WAN/LAN design, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Knowledge of secure remote access, file transfer protocols, and compliance practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
