Position Summary

Booker DiMaio is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support a federal application modernization initiative focused on replacing legacy OpenVMS/DCL-based processing systems with a secure, Python-based middleware and unified client platform. This role is responsible for enabling secure, automated, and auditable software delivery across development, testing, and production environments within a government-led Agile program.

The DevSecOps Engineer will support CI/CD pipeline implementation, deployment automation, and security integration efforts across a modernized Python-based architecture. The position is primarily remote with periodic onsite support in the Washington, DC area. Candidates must be eligible for Public Trust clearance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting enterprise Python-based applications
  • Implement and manage automated deployment workflows using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tooling
  • Support secure software delivery practices including automated testing, code scanning, and release validation
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure secure and reliable deployments
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment processes to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Support modernization efforts transitioning legacy OpenVMS/DCL-based systems to Python-based middleware services
  • Troubleshoot build, deployment, and integration issues across environments (development, test, UAT, production)
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to support system reliability and auditability
  • Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and support iterative delivery cycles
  • Ensure compliance with federal security, audit, and Section 508 accessibility requirements where applicable

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Prior Government Experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise software delivery pipelines in structured environments
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and automated deployment practices
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Python-based application environments and REST API-driven systems
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
  • Experience supporting federal government or government contracting environments (required)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting legacy system modernization or enterprise migration programs
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
  • Security+ or cloud-related certifications
  • Python Institute certifications (PCEP, PCAP, or PCPP) strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting audit, compliance, or regulated enterprise environments

Work Environment

  • Primarily remote with occasional onsite engagement in the Washington, DC area
  • Support Agile delivery cycles within a federal modernization program
  • Standard business hours with flexibility based on program needs
